401. 10362 10362 The elevation map depicts the Dashti-i-Mārgo, or Mārgo Desert, located in Afghanistan. Also shown are the Helmand River and surrounding areas in Iran and India.

402. 10363 10363 The thematic map depicts Iranian Seistan and its shared portion of the Helmand river with Afghan Chakhansur. Seistan was one of Iran's thriving sources for agriculture. The map focuses on Seistan's sources for irrigation over a span of three years. The purpose of the Perso-Afghan, or McMahon Arbitration Commission, was to determine the amount of water needed to irrigate Seistan fields.

403. 10364 10364 The elevation map concentrates on the Kandahar province in Afghanistan. Kandahar contains a majority of the Helmand river, the Margo desert, and Chakhansur. Notable features include Hamun, Zabul, and Iranian Seistan.

The western portion of the Harī river passes beneath Herat, the capital city of the Herat province, and forms the northern portion of the Iran/Afghan border.
