| General Notes | Five elderly Native American women, identified as members of the Cayuse tribe and "converts of Dr. Marcus Whitman", sit outside a large tent. The women wear headscarves, long skirts, and shawls of woolen fabric, possibly Pendleton blankets. Two of the women hold handkerchiefs in their laps. The names of the women are tentative and have not been verified yet by tribal members. |
