Descriptive UO TitleBurning Wheat at Cayuse. Six women standing near railroad
TCI Title
General NotesA large mound of material identified as wheat smolders on the right side of the image. A dozen people, almost all Indian women, stand or sit near the burning wheat. All wear scarves or other headcoverings. Railroad tracks extend from near right into the distance, with two groups of filled burlap bags scattered on and near them. A row of utility poles parallels the tracks, and part of a railroad car is visible at the left.
TCI NotesAn outside photograph of people next to two sets of railroad tracks. They are sitting and standing watching wheat burn next to the railroad tracks. There is a pile of wheat that is burning on the side of the tracks. There are a few people standing in the smoke and the others are sitting on the tracks. In one set of the railroad tracks and in between the other set of railroad tracks are bags of wheat. At the end of the one set of railroad tracks is a railroad car. Alongside the tracks are telephone poles.
