| General Notes | A Native American woman, identified as Maud Sampson of the Cayuse Tribe, is seated in front of a blanket backdrop. She is wearing a buckskin dress with beadwork and fringe and a woven cornhusk hat. She has plain moccasins and beaded leggings. Her hair is in two long braids and her jewelry includes shell earrings and beaded chokers. The ground in front of the backdrop and the chair the woman is sitting on are covered by two pendleton blankets. There is a woven cornhusk bag displayed next to the chair, on the blanket. The backdrop consists of a solid colored blanket that is suspended on an unseen frame. A little bit of grass and part of a wooden sidewalk with a hose on it are visible to the front and side of the image. |
