| General Notes | A view of a Native American encampment on the Umatilla Indian Reservation, taken July 4, 1902. Two rows of tipis, most made of canvas, are set up on a field covered with grass and low bushes. The area around the tipis is enclosed with a fence, which is visible in the foreground. Behind them is a dense wood. Low mountains are in the background. The figures of horses and people can be seen amongst the tipis, along with one or two wagons. There is another group of animals within the enclosure, standing away from the groups of horses, that might be two sheep grazing together. At the extreme left of the photo is a covered shelter or some type of open wooden structure. |

| Processing History | Scanned images enter Photoshop with negative polarity and have a reversed orientation. Archived Tiffs are saved. Adobe Photoshop used to reorient and crop images, invert image to positive polarity, set and neutralize shadow and highlight point, adjust midtone contrast, and desaturate color information. Second production tiff saved, retaining adjustments layers. Photoshop used to convert color profie from Adobe 1998, to sRGB, set resoltuion to 125 dpi and resize the largest pixel dimension of the image to 875. Display jpeg saved after resizing. |
