The Maps of building sites page is a work in progress. Maps will be added and updated throughout 2007-2008.
Examples of the types of public buildings covered by Oregon’s Percent for Art law include public schools, state university and technical college systems, court facilities and office buildings. Where multiple buildings are in close proximity, a map is provided showing the location name, visual relationship between the sites, and a street address. Logistically close sites, located in different municipalities (such as Beaverton and Portland), will be combined under the larger entity name. Rural and coastal locations, or municipalities with less than four building sites, have also been congregated into shared map entities.
Background: The works of art in the Percent for Art collection are located in public buildings and sites throughout the state. The majority of artworks are in metropolitan areas, largely represented by the campuses of the Oregon University System and state buildings. Many Oregonians, scholars, students, and the general public are often completely unaware of the existence of these works of art and thus unable to view them as a body or study them. The Percent for Art Digital Collection is a free, accessible database for viewing images of the works of art funded through the State of Oregon's Percent for Public Art program. In addition to exhibiting a digital representation of artwork and supporting documentation, the collection will provide rich contextual information to enable the study, comparison, and general enjoyment of these works of public artwork that often are unacknowledged .
